Baby Smiles

Jason smiled at me for the first time tonight! It was sooo cute. Those big wide open toothless grins are my favorite. And, of course, because I'm a mom, I almost started to cry because I was so happy. It took serious will power to keep the tears back. I just wish I'd been able to get a picture of it.

So I figure it's time to start updating our blog again. So much has happened this year, I'll start with a brief summary.
At the end of January we went on vacation to San Diego to visit our friends, the Siggards. They had a little boy about a month after Rylan was born and we had only seen him once when he was about 3 months old and Rylan was 4 months old. So it was fun to see how they both had grown. We spent part of one day at the beach and Rylan got his toes in the Pacific Ocean for the first time ever. Even though it was 70ish degrees the water was just too cold and Rylan did not enjoy it at all. He also started crawling for real that day because he didn't like the sand on his tummy while army crawling.
In February we found out that we would be adding another child to our family later in the year. We were very excited. My little sister Jaki had also announced that she was having another baby just a few weeks before this. I started to watch my cousin Stephanie's 2 and a half year old son, Taylor, around this time. He is a really cute kid and has so much energy. Rylan really enjoyed having him around. Luckily I didn't get too sick from the pregnancy and luckily we have a really small place. So I was able to keep the kids in 1 room and I spent most of the next month on the couch making sure the boys didn't get into too much trouble.
In March, Dave turned 1 year older and then in April we celebrated Rylan's 1st birthday. We invited all our family and friends and had a huge bash at our church. Rylan wasn't too sure about digging into the cake at first so I helped him a bit. He started to cry until Grandma Valerie started feeding it to him. We got lots of great toys and some cute clothes for him. It was a fun time.
In May I had my 20 week ultrasound and we found out that we were having another boy. We knew this would be great (and tiring) to have 2 boys so close together. I hope they will be close all their lives. We also had 3 friends that had babies in May. My little sister Crystal got married. She was the last of the 7 of us to do so. Now my parents are counting the grandkids they will have in the next 5-10 years. They were at 8 by this point.
In June, another friend had a baby.
In July we celebrated our 4th anniversary and took Dave's parents RV to Echo Lake for a family vacation. It was a nice long, relaxing weekend. We went swimming every day and Dave went fishing every morning and we didn't do much else. It was a wonderful time.
In August I got another year older and my friend Cherilyn had her baby girl on my birthday.
In September we started to prepare for the birth of our second son. After weeks of contractions but a short and easy labor, Jason was born at the end of the month about a week and a half before his due date. 3 of our friends also had their babies in September.
In October my sister had Will (her second son) just one week after Jason was born. For Halloween we went to a party the night before at the Abeggs. On Halloween Dave took Rylan trick-or-treating for his first time. He loved it but wanted to eat the candy instead of putting it into the bag. What a cutie. Rylan was dressed as Tigger and Dave was in his trusty Ninja costume. I stayed home with Jason and passed out candy to the 20 or so trick-or-treaters that we got. We had tons of candy left over and added to what Rylan got that night, we will be eating it till Christmas.
Now it's November. Jason is 6 weeks old and we hope will settle into a better sleeping pattern soon. Rylan is learning so fast. He is always asking "sthat?" He wants to know what everything is and even picks up on stuff that Dave and I just talk about. We have to spell certain words now, like b-a-t-h for example, or he will freak out and fight to have it right then.
Let's see, what else? I am still serving as the Young Women's 2nd counselor and Dave is still a ward missionary in our ward. We both enjoy our callings and the people that they put us in touch with. Oh yes, my sister Jeannette announced that they will be having their second baby in Feb 2010 and My sis-in-law Deborah announced their first baby is due in May 2010. Well, that's all I can think of for right now. We'll try to update more often and get some pictures on from all our adventures this year.

So Stephanie told me in not so many words that our backround sucked. So I fixed it. I hope it has Stephanie's approval now. Love ya Steph, no hard feelings!

Christmas presents!

Santa came to the Todd family house. This year Santa brought the family a personal digital video disc camcorder, so now we can be all hip and cool like the rest of the kids. You know how the hip kids are nowadays, with their digital video recorders, their fancy personal mpeg audio layer 3 players, souped up coupes, and their facsimile sending machines. Well now we are like them.

Santa also brought us a copy of Mario Kart Wii. Which is an amazingly awesome game. So far, only Dave is the one who plays it. Although Cassi has played too. Rylan tried to eat the Wii controller. And Zazu is still just a loud bird. Almost everything is unlocked as of day 2. Our biggest complaints are that Donkey Kong sounds like a doof and that Princess Daisy doesn't tell you what her name is every 2 seconds like she does on the gamecube. Oh well.

Additionally Santa got us a gift card so we can start our food storage for when we need food storage. That was a much needed help.

Santa brought Rylan a Teddy Ruxpin. http://www.teddyruxpin.com/
It's a bear that reads and sings his story to you. His eyes and mouth move.
Rylan loves watching the mouth move and can't get enough of it.

Anyway, I hope Santa brought something fancy for you as well.

Merry Christmas from us.

So we finally started a blog! Hooray. Yahoo.

So, we'll update it later with all of our fancy adventures and amazing feats.

Because we don't have anything going on right now.
